Went for a haircut yesterday. Spring is upon us and it is tough for a furry person like me to manage my hair in these circumstances. All sorts of stuff get tangled in my paws and tail and can make life quite miserable, especially when “other stuff” from the rear of my anatomy get stuck in the tail hair as well!
See how happy I look as the groomer works on me? Those two furry guys in the other picture were simply admiring my amazing haircut as my Humans instructed the groomer how to manage my hair. Less hair on the rear, above the paws and around the mouth please. That makes it so much easier for me to go about my daily routine without having a wet tissue or towel slapped across parts of me!
I guess I can imagine how humans feel on a bad-hair day. I admit I did feel rather uncomfortable as my hair got more and more knotted and heavy on my back over the past two cold, wintry months. Now that the cold is over and the sun shines warmly on me, I can can spring around like a little lamb, nimble and free! YAY!!!! Yipppeee!!!
I’ve been having so much fun these two days that I am totally drained out. I mean, what can you expect if you spent most of your time walking around, sight-seeing, breathing in fresh air and smelling good food?
Like yesterday I was in a micro-brewery, getting fed bits of cheese and being totally fussed over. That was followed by some steak being smuggled to me in my unassuming corner under the table in an Italian restaurant. OOoopps! I think I just exposed myself DARN!
Ok, OK…I had to compromise a bit along the way, like settling for an inconspicuous corner in a restaurant and hidden under the table. After all I have to accept the fact that humans still think they are more superior than us amazing wonders and therefore us dogs get the cold floor while they sit on warm, cushioned seats. The most important thing is I got my steak! That’s all that matters really so I’ll eat humble-pie for now.
My Humans had guests over so breakfast this morning was extra special and guess who profited from all that? ME of course! I had bacon-scrambled eggs, baked meat-loaf and bits of oven-fresh bread. Heee,heee!
It pays to be born with a furry coat, big, bright round eyes and a a cute nose. Gets you places for sure :-)
Even on a ‘bad-hair day’ humans still think you look adorable. I’m almost sure those lady humans actually envy us for having such amazing hair through the sheer generosity of Mother Nature. Those poor humans have to work so hard to look good. Believe me, I’ve seen my Humans when they first get out of bed. Oh my…they really should step straight into the shower first to straighten out their hair before presenting themselves to the world!
Anyway, back to my hectic life of sheer indulgence. Today I had a wonderful time running around wide open spaces on the top of a hilly area and looking down majestically at the vineyards in the valley by the river surrounded by rolling hills. Incredible scenery at my paws.
I especially enjoyed sniffing at more than a hundred lamp-posts, tree trunks, fences and anything that caught my fancy, some of which were graced with my ‘blessings’. Through sheer skill and experience I identified dozens of other 4-footed friends and cousins who had come along the same way, some of whom were fairly amicable.
All was going good for me these past two days except for an encounter with a bitch ( well she is a female dog so I’m not being rude by any means please) who didnt really fancy me. We crossed path on a pavement during morning walk. Being a gentleman I stopped to sniff hello to her. Would you believe she tried to snap at me? The nerve of it all! I decided she was not worth it and strutted off, totally ignoring her instead. That’s the way to keep oneself dignified in such circumstances. Besides she was a little on the heavy side and not really my type anyway.
I’m all drained out, infused to the core with fresh air and good food so I shall bid adieu to all for now and transport myself to slumberland where I shall be surrounded by sausages, beef jerky and humans spoiling me.
